Geotechnical Project

The University of California, Irvine (UCI) medical complex is a $1.3 billion dollar project aimed at constructing a full-service academic health complex and a world-class, acute care hospital on the northern edge of the UCI Campus. Once completed, the new medical complex will span approximately 1.2 million square-feet and be the first all-electric, carbon-neutral medical center in the nation. The medical complex is adjacent to 300 acres of coastal freshwater wetlands of the San Joaquin Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary. The project will provide premier health-care services to the Orange County community amongst a backdrop of healing gardens and naturescapes for patients and their families. The health complex consists of a 7-story acute care inpatient hospital, a 4-story ambulatory care center (ACC), an 8-story parking structure, and a central utility plant (CUP). The parking structure and ACC buildings are under regulatory review of UCI while the hospital and CUP are under regulatory review of the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI).
