GMU provided pavement engineering and construction-materials testing services at El Toro Water District’s R-6 Reservoir located in Mission Viejo, California. The existing perimeter road was significantly deteriorated and due for replacement.
The road was reconstructed with a value-engineered structural section consisting of asphalt concrete over a cement-stabilized pulverized base layer using on-site materials, which resulted in an effective method to address the site’s challenging wet and soft subgrade conditions and contributed to construction savings.
