ASCE Orange County Branch Past President

2024-2025

Nestor Godinez

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all from the ASCE Orange County Branch. I am very proud to be President of the Orange County Branch for this year. The Orange County Branch is one of the premier ASCE branches in the nation and has served well the county’s civil engineering community for close to 70 years.

The ASCE Orange County Branch boasts a broad and diverse membership that extends from university students who are now learning how to be civil engineers to life members who are now enjoying their retirement from long successful careers in civil engineering. Many of those members have graciously volunteered their time and efforts to support one of our six technical institutes which include the Construction Institute (CI), the Environmental & Water Resources Institute (EWRI), The Geo-Institute (GI), Structural Engineering Institute (SEI), the Transportation & Development Institute (T&DI), and the Utility Engineering & Surveying Institute (UESI). We also have several other committees that support ASCE Orange County Branch to host a variety of events and programs such as community service, K-12 outreach, and our marquee Awards Nights among a long list.

Young engineers continue to have a strong and active presence. The ASCE Orange County Branch supports the university student chapters in Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, and UC Irvine. Our Younger Member Forum (YMF) caters to young civil engineering professionals in the earlier stages of their careers. Our YMF has been recognized by ASCE on multiple occasions with the Younger Member Group Award as the most outstanding YMF in the nation.

I am honored to be joined on Executive Board by Roger Chung as Past-President, Eric Pheifer as President-Elect, Jenny Robinet as Secretary, and Alahesh Thurairajah as Treasurer.

I personally would like to thank every single dedicated member who has made the commitment to serve the community and who continue to make ASCE Orange County Branch a success year after year.

Nestor Godinez, PE
