ASCE OC President's Column: Summer Season

Greetings!

We are just about halfway through our summer here in Orange County, although I have a feeling the heat will be sticking around for a while more.  I hope you have been able to join us at a few of our recent events! I am still recovering from a very warm but fun day spent on the golf course for our Annual ASCE OC Golf Tournament. Despite the anticipated heat, we still had a full course with 144 registered players, most of whom stuck around and cooled off at the clubhouse for a well-earned happy hour afterward.

Now that this event is behind us, we are turning our sights on our next signature event – History and Heritage Night, which will be coming your way this fall! In case you haven’t attended in the past, this night is truly inspirational as we review the engineering achievements of the past and celebrate our future engineers, giving them opportunities to rub elbows and trade business cards with long-time industry professionals. And we’re also so excited to give out thousands of dollars in scholarships to local students pursuing the engineering profession!

And as a final note, with all the planning and daily project work that’s consuming our time, be sure to take some time before the season ends to enjoy yourselves. Whether that’s travel, reading, golfing, or sitting on the sidelines cheering on summer league sports, I hope that you can take time for yourself, rejuvenate and relax!

Stay well.

Jen
