ASCE OC T&DI: OCTA Update

ASCE OC T&DI invited Mr. Darrell Johnson, CEO of OCTA, to speak to T&DI regarding current and upcoming OCTA projects.

Mr. Johnson discussed the 2024-2025 budget by program, discussing the various parts of the Orange County transit and roadway system that OCTA funds. He discussed the past and ongoing impacts of the Measure M sales tax on OTCA’s ability to deliver $14.8 billion of improvements over the 30-year timeline of the measure, as well as the $3.5 billion to date that OCTA has been able to pull in from external funding sources by leveraging these funds. He discussed the state of Orange County streets, which has the highest pavement condition index in the state, and the SR-55 (I-405 to I-5) Improvement Project, currently under construction. He also discussed the new OC Streetcar project, which is nearing completion, as well as the Coastal Rail Resiliency initiative that OCTA is currently studying.

This in-person event hosted about 75 people in the Agusta room at Tustin Ranch Golf Course on Monday, July 15th. Participants had the opportunity to network with each other and the guest speaker.

T&DI appreciates Mr. Johnson’s willingness to present to ASCE and the attendees who supported the event!
